07.03 - Senate approves new law of sanitation
The full Senate approved yesterday the PLS 219/2006, project with the opinion that had been voted and approved unanimously (9 x 0) on Tuesday (11/07) by the Joint Special Committee with respect to the new Law of the national sanitation . This Law is the legal framework of the national policy of sanitation and water supply in Brazil. The text provides for more stable on the provision of sanitation, which will facilitate the attraction of investment, both public and private. It also sets rules for transition from current models with poor instruments of delegation of state business services to a system based on contracts, not more in concessions. The important is that the new Act will ensure the work that the state is doing business in Brazil. The text of the Bill resulted in a comprehensive agreement involving the Deputies and Senators of the blocks of support and opposition, the various corporate entities in the sector, the Forum of Secretaries and even the Federal Government itself.
